The Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) has received international recognition for its outstanding contributions to global law enforcement. The Agency was honoured this week with the President’s Award from the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts (IALEIA) in Vancouver, Canada, as one of the world’s leading organisations promoting professionalism in intelligence analysis.
The prestigious award was presented to Colonel (Ret’d) Desmond Edwards, Director General of MOCA, at the opening of the IALEIA/LEIU Annual Training Conference in Vancouver from April 7-11. The accolade celebrates MOCA’s dedicated leadership, innovation, and impact in advancing intelligence analysis, not just in Jamaica, but across the Caribbean and international security landscape.
“To be recognised on this global stage is both humbling and encouraging,” said Colonel Edwards, adding that “this award affirms what we at MOCA have always believed: that intelligence-led policing is the cornerstone of modern law enforcement”.
IALEIA President, Mr. David McClocklin, who visited Jamaica earlier this year for the IALEIA Jamaica Chapter Conference, echoed this sentiment, stating, “During my visit, I witnessed firsthand the professionalism, innovation, and passion MOCA brings to the intelligence process. The Agency’s work is reshaping the role of intelligence analysis within Caribbean law enforcement, elevating the standard and creating real, measurable impact.”
The IALEIA award comes at a particularly meaningful time, as MOCA this year celebrates its 10th anniversary a decade marked by high-impact operations, intelligence-driven investigations, and cross-border collaboration in the fight against organized crime and corruption.
“This recognition fuels our resolve,” added Colonel Edwards. “As we look to the future, the Agency remains committed to building an even more capable and forward-thinking law enforcement environment, one that is rooted in transparency, innovation, and the unrelenting pursuit of justice.”
