MOCA CONDUCTING OPERATIONS AT ST CATHERINE MUNICIPAL CORPORATION

The Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA), alongside personnel from the Financial Investigation Division (FID) and supported by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), are currently involved in a joint operation related to an ongoing investigation into allegations of serious organized crime at the St Catherine Municipal Corporation (SCMC).

The operation which began with a series of targeted operations across 17 locations in the parishes of Kingston, St Catherine and Westmoreland this morning, is aimed at executing search warrants at the various locations, in connection with that investigation. Those locations are affiliated to employees or associates of employees of the SCMC.

According to Major Basil Jarrett, Director of Communications at MOCA, “the Agency is unable to divulge further details at this point as the investigations are still ongoing”. Major Jarrett promised however that the public would be apprised of the situation in due course, and that the operations will be conducted in accordance with the agency’s core values of independence, professionalism, accountability and integrity. In the meantime, he said, “we are endeavouring to execute this operation with as little impact or inconvenience to the public and to the normal running of the SCMC’s operations”.
