NEWS RELEASE – Constable Euwitt on Robbery and Aggravation Charges Offered Bail

Constable Howard Euwitt of the St. Catherine South Division was offered bail in the sum of Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00), when he appeared in the St. Catherine Parish Court, Tuesday, July 7, 2020.

Allegations are; on Sunday August 21, 2016, the accused was working at a charity event which was being hosted by the complainant.  However, the event ended prematurely due to the fact that the host could not produce a permit to the police upon their request.  Subsequently, Euwitt and several other persons began to brandish guns and robbed the bar of liquor and money totaling Seventy-five Thousand Dollars ($75,000.00).  On Tuesday August 23, 2016, Constable Euwitt along with a group person went to the farm of the complainant, again brandishes gun and robbed the complainant of six pigs valued at One Hundred and Forty-five Thousand Dollars ($145,000.00).

A report was made to the Major Organised Crime Anti-Corruption (MOCA) Agency and a file was prepared and submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP). On Monday July 6, 2020, Euwitt was charged with two counts Robbery with Aggravation by detectives from MOCA after receiving a ruling from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution.
