Detectives from MOCA, personnel from the Jamaica Customs Agency, Tax Administration of Jamaica and the Revenue Protection Division conducted a series of operations in the St. James business district.
These operations, in support of the Enhanced Security Measures in St. James, targeted businesses in the Montego Bay business district suspected to be trading in un-customed goods. This operation was in keeping with the zero tolerance approach to crime and to target businesses that are reportedly facilitating the sale of illicit or un-customed goods and are in breach of the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) and various other tax laws..
Several establishments were searched during the operations and a number of un-customed goods including cigars, cigarettes, alcoholic beverages and various documents were seized.
The joint investigation continues.
