Garcia Perez o/c Dr. Tituba Mogaba Sentenced to over Four Hundred Years for PFC Telemarketing Scheme
On Thursday May 16, 2019, Garcia Perez also called Tituba Mogaba, Daina-Marie Dennis and Nashony Barrow appeared before the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court; where Daina-Marie Dennis and Nashony Barrow were freed by the court, after the court offered no evidence against the two. However, Perez pled guilty to one hundred and fourteen (114) counts of Obtaining Money by Means of False Pretence.
Garcia Perez who is presently serving time for similar offences was sentenced to four years for each count of Obtaining Money by Means of False Pretence totaling four hundred and fifty-six (456) years. He will serve this sentence on the completion of the present time behind bars.
All three persons were charged in April 2018 following investigations by MOCA into the activities of Prisoners for Christ Telemarketing Services (PFC Telemarketing Services). This entity purported to be able to import motor vehicles upon the request of a down payment of Eighty-five to One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($85,000.00 -$100,000.00) until the arrival of the vehicle.
Several operations at their offices resulted in the seizure of several motor vehicles and millions of US and Jamaican dollars. Also, based on reports made to MOCA over Thirteen Million Dollars ($13,000,000.00) were fleeced from unsuspected persons.
